Profession security guard | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? They call me a security guard, and my full position is called a shooter-controller of the internal paramilitary security service. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? The main duty is to prevent persons who do not have access rights to the protected object. In parallel with this duty, I carry out the access control, monitor the serviceability and safety of the property entrusted to me. 3. What education is required to get your position? There is an opinion that in order to become a security guard, you need to have a large physique, master the methods of physical influence on a person and be in good physical shape, and education does not matter. This view is only partly true. Guys with such characteristics are suitable for the power protection of the facility - this type of protection is useful in case of violation of the security regime by the offender. On the other hand, a security complex can consist of various equipment: sensors, alarm devices, video surveillance cameras, turnstiles and other access systems. The security guard must work with this equipment in a qualified manner, be able to check its performance, use all the functions of the security system to the maximum to more effectively protect the facility from external intrusions. A guard who combines strength and knowledge is an ideal defense option. They train security guards at special courses, where future employees undergo comprehensive training, including techniques of force, and familiarity with security systems, and first aid to the victim, and even ways to survive in extreme situations (after all, protected objects can be different, and cases too ... .). 4. Describe your working day. The day begins with the acceptance of the shift at the guard on duty. The acceptance includes bypassing the protected area, checking the integrity of the protected property, checking the operability of the alarm system, turnstile, and video surveillance cameras. After that, entries are made in the journal about the transfer and acceptance of the shift, and I step into the guard. Responsibilities from this point on are focused mainly on access control: control of employee passes, issuance of passes to visitors. If the duty takes place at night, I conduct a regular tour of the territory. The end of the duty is similar to its beginning - it is a tour and inspection of the territory, the delivery of a shift. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? Comfort is one of the strengths of my job. In addition to the workplace at the checkpoint, there is a room for eating - there you can not only eat, but also relax during the night duty. 6. What do you like most about your job? Work schedule, salary, a certain amount of free time at work and comfortable conditions at the workplace - these are the advantages that make me love my job. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? There is also a downside to the job. Quite often there are cases of falsesignaling alarms. But it's my duty to respond to any alarm signal. But each anxiety is a small but tangible stress for the nervous system! I think that if someday the old sensors in the alarm system are replaced with new ones, then I, perhaps, will no longer be able to complain about my work. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? The level of salary correlates well with the level of risk in my workplace. In addition, thanks to a good work schedule, I have the opportunity to earn extra money at one more job. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? My team consists of former military officers who know what friendship and mutual assistance are. We never conflict: if a problem arises, we get together and discuss it together, looking for solutions - this is how our mentors taught us. 10. What human qualities, in your opinion, are most important in your business? In my firm conviction, not every person can work as a security guard! Endurance, patience, attention, ingenuity, sharp mind, observation, determination, courage - this is a far from complete list of qualities inherent in a professional security guard. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). As I said, at work I have time free from detours and control, especially during night shifts. The upside is that I can use this time as I see fit. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? There are such shifts that I would not give my work even a four, but it happens that even a five would not be enough. As in any job, mine has pros and cons, but the arithmetic mean score is still closer to five points. 13. Why did you choose this job? Initially, I became a security guard not by choice, but by chance. In the distant 90s of the last century, when the army began to decline, when they stopped paying wages, I was invited to work as a security guard at an enterprise. I didn’t really like this idea then, but they promised a good salary, and most importantly, they paid it regularly. With the development of private business, the security services market began to flourish, and the requirements for security guards began to grow. I decided to take refresher courses for security guards and showed very good results. Employers noticed me and invited me to work in the security service of a reputable company, where I still work. To be honest, I did not like this job from the very beginning of my career as a security guard, but over time I found my pluses in it and, one might say, fell in love. 14. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? In my opinion, the proposed plan is quite capacious, and if a person has something to say about his occupation, then he will be able to reflect this thanks to the proposed plan. I also want to saythat people who decide to change their field of activity should not be afraid of change. Everything that is done is done for the better! 0
