I am a leading public relations and media specialist | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? Leading PR and Mass Media Specialist of the Seversko-Donetsk Basin Water Resources Administration 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? My work covers a huge number of responsibilities. I work in a government institution that often holds meetings, council meetings, social events, annually holds the Day of the Seversky Donets, children's art competitions. My role in all this is the preparation of reports for the boss, organizational moments in holding a particular meeting, meeting, solemn event, inviting the media to them, preparing press releases for them, communicating with representatives of the press, TV channels and public organizations. I am fully responsible for the work of holding the annual children's creative competition: inviting young people to participate, developing regulations for the competition, determining nominations, collecting works, their preliminary evaluation, presentation of works before the competition commission, preparing an exhibition, preparing diplomas and thanks, organizing events for the debriefing, holding the event itself as a host, communication with the media. On days when there are no such events, I am engaged in the development of design and content for advertising and promotional products of my organization: all kinds of stands, banners, brochures, leaflets, calendars, photo albums, and so on. We also have our own website, the content of which is also entrusted to me. I make sure that the data is always fresh, after each event I write news for the site, announce upcoming events, monitor and display on the site all publications and reports related to the activities of our organization. I send quarterly reports to the Ministry on public events held, on the organization's interaction with the public, and on the openness of its activities. I also collect quarterly bulletins, and at the end of the year - the annual report. In addition, our organization itself often participates in various competitions and grants. And again, the preparation of the entire package of documents lies with me. But it is very pleasant to win, to direct the money received from grants for the improvement of the city and its water bodies. Probably I need to stop, although this is not all my duties 3. What kind of education is needed to get your position? In order to get this job, my application for a diploma in the specialty "Journalism" was useful to me. At the university, in parallel with my main studies, I graduated from the elective journalism 4. Describe your working day. My working day starts at 8 am with a cup of invigorating coffee. It helps to wake up. Then, as a rule, I work according to the to-do list compiled the night before. This is sometimes interrupted by new instructions from the chief, his deputy and the chief engineer. Sometimes all at once. This is where priorities come into play. Sometimes I travel to other cities if the authorities hold another meetingis outside of our control. I have lunch from 12 to 13, I try to spend it outside the workplace, take a walk, take a break from the flurry of cases. After lunch, activity continues. The end of the working day is at 17-00. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? My working conditions are quite comfortable: a separate computer, a desk, a male team in the department (a huge plus!), I even have a life-saving air conditioner. 6. What do you like most about your job? The most pleasant thing, perhaps, is to see how the eyes of those children who win the competition of children's creativity burn, to see their efforts, their magnificent work. I think it's worth all the work I put into the contest. I also like the fact that the work is not monotonous, very mobile, requiring constant communication. Since I am a sociable and restless person, I can’t even imagine what kind of work would suit me more. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? I do not like…. The fact that my efforts are not always appreciated by the authorities. That sometimes you have to do small annoying work such as scanning for everyone who looks into the department (we have 1 scanner for all management, and I have it!), searching for weather on the Internet for everyone who is not too lazy, which, in general, my direct duties are not included and constantly distract from work. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? I think that with such a load, wages should be at least twice as high. However, I repeat, the organization is budgetary, so everything is limited by the staffing table. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? The team consists of 80% women, moreover, those who have worked for 20 or more years in this organization. Lots of young professionals. 2 people work directly with me in the department: my immediate supervisor (head of the department) and the system administrator. The boss has little interest in our work (especially mine), and we are great friends with the administrator. I am very glad that I do not work, for example, in the accounting department - there are only representatives of the weaker sex. I wouldn't even be able to concentrate. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? Of course, sociability, mobility, lack of complexes, initiative. And more - great love for what you do! 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). In addition to money, work gives me the opportunity to constantly communicate with interesting and creative people, develop, develop useful contacts with representatives of organizations of various levels. Yes, a lot. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? I will put 5 with a minus, a fly in the ointment is an unhealthy criticism of the main authorities. 13. Why did you choose this job? I always wanted to do more than just leaf through papersand fill out forms, and have an interesting and varied job. 14. What are the opportunities for your career development? Career growth for me is possible only in case of transfer to another place of work. Here, perhaps, this is the ceiling. 15. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? And so much has been said, perhaps this is all I would like to share. 0
