1. What is the name of your profession (position)? My profession is a bricklayer. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? My work consists in laying bricks, cinder blocks, rubble stone, followed by jointing, finishing the erected walls with various materials (tiles, wall paneling, plaster, etc.). My duties include calculating the required amount of materials and subsequent work with these materials. 3. What education is required to get your position? In order to master the profession of a bricklayer and get a diploma, it is necessary to graduate from a vocational technical school (vocational technical school), that is, to receive a secondary specialized education. But you learn to work with most finishing materials in practice, just as in vocational schools they do not teach you how to work with modern finishing materials. 4. Describe your working day. My working day is not standardized, it starts at 7.30 and ends at 18-19 pm. It starts with the gathering of the entire team at work, then the foreman conducts briefings for craftsmen and handymen. Next, I prepare the tool necessary to perform the work, most often it is a trowel and a pickaxe. At 12.00 the foreman announces the beginning of the lunch break, the duration of the break is 1 hour, until 13.00. After lunch, I continue either masonry or finishing work. If unforeseen circumstances do not arise, work continues until 19.00, if any material has ended, then earlier, and when the object needs to be completed, then later. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? There is no need to talk about comfort in my profession. There are internal works, but in most cases outdoors. Sometimes I work in the rain and in the snow and in the cold, and in the summer I bask in the sun at +40C. 6. What do you like most about your job? I like the realization that from a pile of building materials I create beautiful structures, leaving a mark on the architecture of the city. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? I do not like pompous customers who have not decided on what exactly they want. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? As they say: there is never a lot of money, but I have enough. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? The team in which I work consists of 10 people - 4 assistants, 5 foremen and a foreman. The whole team is friendly, the only drawback common to all (builders) is alcohol, but not at the facility, otherwise the foreman fines. In general, only positive things come from people, excellent people. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? In my profession, the following qualities are important: accuracy, responsibility, decency. I always try to do my work carefully, so that later I don’t have to come up with explanations for the customer, what and how. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (here everything that gives you work except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people toabout the opportunity to visit different countries). My work gives an opportunity to embody, on some objects, creative ideas, to get acquainted with new people. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? Without a shadow of a doubt, this is "5". 13. Why did you choose this job? I chose my profession as a continuation of the family tradition, my grandfather and father were builders. 14. What are the opportunities for your career development? There are practically no career prospects. The only possible option is to become a foreman, but for this you need to put together your own brigade. 15. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? Perhaps it is worth including a question about why he preferred this particular profession or if there was an opportunity (or so the circumstances were) to change the profession that he would choose. If possible, I would like to become a programmer, lately, computer technologies are increasingly entering our lives and I suspect that in the future this profession will be in great demand. 0
