Profession - system administrator and programmer | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? In this article I would like to tell you about my profession. My profession is called “System Administrator”, after 3 years of excellent work I got the position of Head of Information Technology Department. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? My job is to maintain the efficiency of the entire information base of the organization, built on the level of High Technologies. My duties are as follows: Support for setting up servers, monitoring the performance of server databases, such as win2003 and automated accounting systems 1C Accounting version 8.1. Also, the duties of my work include such a type of activity as the repair of computer equipment, the operation of the company's network base, and most importantly, the timely elimination of problems and interruptions in the work of users of IT technologies. 3. What education is required to get your position? I graduated from the TUSUR University, which is deciphered by the Tomsk University of Control Systems, at the Faculty of Automated Control Systems, higher education in my profession is a mandatory factor for successful career growth. 4. Describe your working day. My working day always starts according to the same planned working scheme, namely, it is necessary to come to work 15 minutes earlier than all the staff, this is due to the fact that before starting work, you need to start the entire network starting from the servers, which takes 10 minutes -15 minutes, all further actions in my work cannot be planned, since it is not target but factor by factor, i.e. the occurrence of work occurs when a user of the system has problems. the standard lunch of the department takes 1 hour 30 minutes, and the head of the department ends his working day 30 minutes earlier, this is due to the fact that at the end of the working day it is necessary to provide a report on the work done by the entire department for the period of the working day. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? The whole working day is spent in the office, in a separate office, in principle, with the correct construction of the workplace, all the problems encountered by users can be eliminated without leaving your office. The exception is a few company offices that periodically have problems, and you must either send a systems engineer there, or go yourself if all the engineers are busy. 6. What do you like most about your job? In my profession, I like most of all this communication with people, and most importantly, an interesting and not very difficult job, provided that you know your profession perfectly well. After all, it has long been no secret to anyone that the work of IT engineers and system administrators is the most important link in the communication chain between users, and the exchange of information that generates income for the enterprise, which greatly affects the attitude of employees of the enterprise to employees of the Information Technology department. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? In addition to Art.Atia, I would like to tell you about the disadvantages of our work, namely, about those moments that have a negative impact on the attitude towards the choice of this profession. In our profession, it is necessary to have iron health, because a few hours spent at the computer can cause headaches, which greatly affects your performance, unfortunately, even with my excellent health, I often experience this phenomenon. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? I am very satisfied with my level of salary, because it is comparable with the salary of the highest links in the chain of employees. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? The team is always different, it changes very often, there are people with a good education, but with a very low level of computer skills, mostly Accountants, and each of them needs its own approach, there are both very calm and very non-self-critical, and quick-tempered people who give up when problems arise. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? One of the most important criteria in my profession is the ability to work with people, if you do not have restraint, the ability to explain, and most importantly, patience and understanding, then you will not succeed in this profession. After all, you must not forget that most people working with you in a team do not have your knowledge in the field of this activity, but you must remember that they have professional knowledge in their work, and when asked to explain to them what and how it works, restraint is very important, you need to understand that most of the questions will be stupid. But imagine if you were interested in their work, your questions would be no less stupid, and this must be remembered. Always and everywhere you need to be able to put yourself in the place of another person, this will help you succeed in this difficult work. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). In addition to the salary, I would like to talk about the great advantages of our profession. First of all, this is constant communication with well-educated people, which is never superfluous, just as any employer who appreciates you will always provide the opportunity to study abroad, because he needs educated and knowledgeable people, and in our profession this is an easily achievable goal! 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? If I were given the opportunity to evaluate my profession, I would not hesitate to rate it 5 out of 5 13. Why did you choose this job? I chose my profession because of my passion for everything new and developing in our vast world, because we have the greatest access to all the news happening on the planet, and most importantly, this is a job that requires a lot of brainstorming! I wish you good luck in choosing a profession! 0
