My profession is a plumber | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? My profession is called a sanitary technician - simply a plumber. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? The work of a plumber is to identify and troubleshoot plumbing equipment - plumbing and sewerage, and sometimes ventilation. I am obliged to leave a satisfied client by doing quality work not only on the surface, but also where the client cannot see and evaluate. 3. What education is required to get your position? It is believed that education is not important for working as a plumber, you can simply show a person what is what and he is ready. This is mistake. I myself have a higher technical education, for several years I designed various hydraulic mechanisms myself, before I “ripened” for plumbing. Indeed, about 50% of my orders are alterations for such would-be "masters" who were "showed how to do it." 4. Describe your working day. I don’t have a unified plan for spending the working day due to the fact that I am not an employee of any company, but I work independently. It can be said around the clock, because there are also night calls - people cannot wait until the morning when a pipe bursts. Usually my day starts at 10 am and ends at 5 pm. This is the opening hours of the plumbing market, where I buy spare parts for repairs and other items for replacement. When I come to the client, I evaluate the degree of complexity of the work, the cost of spare parts and issue an invoice. If the client agrees, a trip to the market for the goods necessary for the repair follows, and then the actual troubleshooting. This is followed by a check of the work, lasting up to half an hour, after which the satisfied client pays and scatters in gratitude. No smoking breaks, no tea, and nothing stronger, no trampling the whole apartment with dirty boots. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day on the street, or in the office with a cup of coffee) Working conditions, of course, are not so hot - dampness, smell, dirt, sweat fills the eyes. But between orders there are invariably pauses that I spend at home, arranging my vacation as I want. 6. What do you like most about your job? Since childhood, I did everything in the house with my own hands, it gave me pleasure. My work is a return to childhood, the opportunity to do what gives pleasure. In addition, the client shaking hands and thanking from the bottom of his heart is also a definite plus. Well, payment. The fee of a good plumber, like any other real specialist, cannot be called small. And also, recently I opened plumbing courses for ordinary plumbing users, non-professionals who want to do everything themselves, but there is no teacher, assistant who would tell them in detail about the repair of their faucet, toilet, sink. Another positive side of plumbing is conservatism. Indeed, as pipe threads were invented, so it still has the same dimensions - 15, 20, 25 ... And so it is in everything. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? Most of all in my businessI don’t dislike amateurs who consider themselves super-masters, for whom they have to redo, thereby introducing the owners of the apartment into additional expenses and missing out on really worthwhile, real, interesting work. And I simply don’t notice the dirt and smell associated with plumbing work - I have to work quickly, there is no time to smell. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? The level of my salary suits me and my family, having gone to plumbing, I really understood what “SALARY” is - earned, paid. And vice versa. No one will give you money for wiping your pants. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? I work alone, sometimes, when I'm on a call, I answer the phone and take my husband's orders. 10. What human qualities, in your opinion, are most important in your business? The qualities needed for work are strength, confidence, striving for results. The qualities needed to communicate with a client are punctuality, delivered speech, the ability to speak and work at the same time. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). If for a person money is a pleasant bonus, and not a goal, then he will get maximum pleasure from any work, he will like everything in it. For me, this job is freedom, freedom from bosses and their impossible plans, freedom from stuffy offices, freedom from office intrigues. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? I would give my work a solid five because I love and respect it. 13. Why did you choose this job? The choice of the plumbing profession logically followed from the love of doing everything with one's own hands, studying at the institute at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and working as a design engineer of hydraulic mechanisms. In addition, I want to change the association that many people have with the word "plumber" - unshaven, in a dirty robe and boots, drunk, with a cigarette in his mouth, demanding tea and trampling carpets and rugs with these boots of his. 14. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? People argue a lot about how to live better - be able to do everything yourself or earn enough to be able to call the masters. What do you think, friends? Write comments! 0
