Chemist-chromatographer is my profession | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? I work as a chromatographic chemist in a testing laboratory at the regional Center for Metrology and Standardization as a department head. The purpose of my work is to study food products and their components for the content of pesticides and salts of heavy metals. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? My direct responsibility is: - organization of a full cycle of sample research by employees of my department; - direct determination of the amount of pesticides and salts of heavy metals in a pre-prepared sample; - fixing the results of research in the journal of work performed; – registration of a test report, which is the basis for recognizing the product under investigation as safe. 3. What education is required to get your position? I studied at the Kiev Technological Institute of the Food Industry, I have the qualification of an engineer-technologist. 4. Describe your working day. At the beginning of the working day, I receive the test sample of the food product, assign it a number and register it in the test log. The laboratory assistant takes a sample of the product, and from that time on we begin to work not with the product, but with the encoded sample. The sample goes through a multi-stage preparation path: dissolution, distillation, evaporation, and dissolution again. It all depends on what kinds of substances we are trying to detect in it. When the sample is ready for direct testing, a strictly measured amount is placed in the chromatograph cuvette and further studies are carried out by the machine. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? The work of a chromatographer belongs to the category of harmful ones, since during the working day I have to work with aggressive media. Outwardly unpretentious manipulations require scrupulous precise implementation and strict adherence to the instructions set forth in the Method for the determination of pesticides in food products. Working conditions are extremely harmful, so there can be no talk of a cup of coffee at the workplace. 6. What do you like most about your job? What can a woman like about work? Never mind. A woman should stay at home with her children, and not ruin her health among aggressive chemical compounds. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? But for all the monotony, the work always carries an element of intrigue: will we identify unacceptable components in the product or will we not? 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? The salary is low, as in any public service. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? But we have a great team. Female. Only women can be so scrupulous and accurate in carrying out job descriptions. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? Very important in my work is the exact adherence to the methodology. No loose transcriptions of the job description are acceptable. 11. Rathe bot gives me additional opportunities (here everything that gives you a job except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). The job gives me additional opportunities for self-improvement. Thanks to my work, I learned how to use a computer fluently. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? What is the value of human health? A chemist always pays for his work with his health. 13. Why did you choose this job? It was the only place where 15 years ago they agreed to take a young mother with children of the same weather to work. 14. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? The questionnaire should also include the question: would you like your children to choose the same profession for themselves? I would not recommend this job to my daughter. 0
