1. What is the name of your profession (position)? Chief Legal Counsel. I work in a bank, specializing in interbank relations and attracting credit resources from abroad. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? Legal examination of various documents, contracts, amendments to them, documents for assessing the legal status. There is no exhaustive list of documents, their range is very wide, a large amount of documentation in English. The duties also include the preparation of written opinions based on the results of the examination, the preparation of written responses to requests from other departments: in order to prepare such opinions, it is necessary to first analyze the legislation and judicial practice on this issue. Sometimes - participation in conference calls, negotiations, interaction with foreign legal consultants. 3. What education is required to get your position? Higher legal, for my specialization, knowledge of English at a decent level, including legal vocabulary, is required. 4. Describe your working day. Start at 9.00. I look at the tasks that have not yet been worked out for me by the management, I myself draw up a plan for myself in order of preparing answers to these tasks, I proceed: I read the request of the unit, I study the documents attached to the request. If, in my opinion, some documents are missing, I request them electronically from the contractor. I communicate by phone with representatives of other divisions of the Bank. If you need to prepare comments on a contract or other document, first I carefully study the document, making notes in the margins, then I reflect my opinion in a written conclusion. If it is necessary to prepare a response to a request, I first study the topic: I analyze the legislation and judicial practice on the issue, prepare separate materials for a future conclusion. Based on the information studied, I first prepare an approximate plan for responding to the request “in my head”, I work out what theses will be there. Then I prepare the text of the answer in writing. During breaks, I sometimes talk with colleagues on the phone, give some oral explanations on the conclusions already submitted, and discuss our position. 5. In general, I don’t like my work, because. the routine work of carefully “reading through” an infinite number of contracts and documents makes me psychologically tired. Communication with people energizes me, but it takes a small part of my working time, unfortunately. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? Decent salary, generally satisfiedt me 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? Lawyers are all competent professionals, smart, educated people. Colleagues from other divisions - come across different people. The boss is smart, takes care of his subordinates, competently defends our position, and in terms of human qualities also commands respect. 10. What human qualities, in your opinion, are most important in your business? It is good when a person finds pleasure in what he does, feels the importance of his work. Very important attentiveness, patience, perseverance, possession of legal terminology, the ability to convince orally and in writing. 11. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? 3- brings money, but little self-expression and communication (but you want to). 13. Why did you choose this job? Chosen by my parents, because it is a guaranteed piece of bread and butter, I wanted to choose journalism, but I was too insecure and afraid to insist on my choice. 14. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? A good plan, but I would also be interested to know how people see themselves professionally in 2, 5, 10 years. I would also like the work to be connected with a lot of communication, but I don’t know how to implement it. I would also like to see the question “What, in your opinion, should be done if the work is not pleasant?” 0
