Profession mechanical production engineer | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession? I work as an aircraft engine technologist. I hold the position of an engineer-technologist of the 1st category. With the performance of the functions of the leading technologist of the product. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? Creation of technological processes for manufacturing, control, assembly, repair, etc. for aircraft parts. A complete description of all the necessary constituent elements for guaranteed high-quality and economically justified serial production of aircraft engines. The choice of the necessary equipment, technological equipment, cutting, measuring and auxiliary tools, the appointment of processing modes, the conditions of the spring working environment (temperature, humidity, illumination, air purity, etc.) and the use of the necessary auxiliary materials (lubricating and cooling technological agents, anti-corrosion materials. 3. What kind of education is required to get your position? It is necessary to get a higher technical education and have several years of experience in lower positions directly in production departments.Ideally have experience in machine tool professions used in engineering production. As technological science is constantly evolving, new materials and technologies come, it is necessary to constantly engage in self-education and periodically study at refresher courses, visit specialized exhibitions 4. Describe your working day My working day begins with viewing yesterday's records on current issues of the work of the ward workshop and the product. During the day, I solve operational issues related to the manufacture, control, and repair of parts of my product. I control the accuracy of technological processes on newly launched and especially critical parts. I make changes to existing technological processes, if necessary, compose technological processes for newly launched parts and products. I prepare applications for the design or purchase of specialized equipment and tools. I study new and amended normative documents on the issues of mechanical production technology. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? Although the work is sedentary, at the computer, a lot of time has to be spent directly in the workshop, at the workplaces of machine operators, supervisors, shop technologists. I would call these conditions normal, a lot of communication, you won't get bored, but you can always find time to have a cup of tea. 6. What do you like most about your job? In my work, I like the dynamics of what is happening, the need to solve sometimes very non-standard tasks. I don’t really like to sit still doing the same thing for a long time, that’s why I chose a profession where you have to be on the move, constantly invent something, learn something new. And most importantly, I am pleased with the understanding of my key role, because it is the technologist who determines the entire production chain for manufacturing the part and the entire product.elia in general. And he can immediately see the results of his work live, "feel it with his hands." 7. What do you dislike most about your job? Lack of time and resources to solve all those grandiose tasks that designers and managers sometimes put before me. The need to convince so many financially capable managers of the need for certain costs before starting to work. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? Not satisfied, always want more. But I noticed one strange contradiction, if the salary is high, then the professionalism of technologists begins to fall. Talkers begin to come instead of professionals, who can convince, but cannot think. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? The team at work is diverse. There are young people, there are elderly people, pensioners. Both women and men are roughly equal. More experienced ones willingly share their experience and knowledge with beginners. The atmosphere is working, pleasant, friendly. All age groups get along well with each other. There are no noticeable conflicts. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? My work is hard work. It requires attentiveness, accuracy, responsibility, the ability to see the future on paper. It is also important to have technical thinking, understanding the essence of the process, knowledge of equipment, materials, tools. At the same time, a sociable character is also required, the ability to convince and defend one's case in conflict situations is quite important. The technologist is always in conflict with the designer and the production worker. The designer always wants more than the technologist can give, and the production worker always gives less than the technologist wants. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). My work provides an opportunity to study new technologies, communicate with smart people, travel on business trips, abroad. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? Solid four. 13. Why did you choose this job? I have been working as a technologist for many years, though intermittently. After graduating from the Moscow Higher Technical School. Bauman (now the Technical University), (Department of Mechanical Engineering) immediately got to the aircraft factory. Immediately began to work as an engineer-technologist. Before that, I had already worked as a turner, a fitter at another aircraft factory, so it was easy for me to fit into the work mode. The plant was developing very actively, there was a lot of new equipment, new workshops were built, new technologies were mastered. I got to one of the most interesting production sites in the country, an automated site where there were only CNC machines, an automated ceiling-high warehouse, transport robots, computers. My salary as a shop engineer-technologist was 2 times higher than that of the engineers who remained in Moscow. It is tooserved as an incentive in choosing a profession and this enterprise. I saw in practice how passions boil in production, something new every day, the workload is full. In general, it's interesting here. 14. What are the opportunities for your career development? In general, having a higher technical education, there are unlimited opportunities to go up the career ladder, if there is a desire. As they say: all roads are open. You just need to prove yourself, show your professional and organizational skills. 15. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? Today, young people are drawn to offices, work in enterprises is not honored, and little is said about it. Unfortunately this is a fact. It is necessary to stimulate both educational institutions and teachers, and it is much harder for current students. Education is paid, and salaries are miserable, especially at the beginning. It is necessary to attract with tempting offers to solve housing problems, lifting funds for creating a family and paying for education. These issues need to be addressed by the government. These are state tasks. Otherwise, the country will continue to lose high-tech production. 0
