Profession athlete-handball instructor | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? My profession is called an athlete-handball instructor. That's what it says in my workbook. But in fact, this is a person who professionally plays handball as part of a team. Handball in translation from English is a hand ball. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? I play (work) in the team of masters of the Super League of Russia. The main task is to participate in tournaments, competitions, games and uphold the honor of your country as part of the Russian team. 3. What education is required to get your position? Education is not required (initially), because you start playing sports at a young age (school). And then you can enter any institute (in absentia, because there is not enough free time). But basically it is, of course, a sports institute or department. 4. Describe your working day. Usually we have 2 workouts per day: in the morning and in the evening, for 2 hours. In the afternoon, free time (for study, rest, walks). When we leave for competitions, the day goes according to the schedule planned by the organizers. Usually this is exercises, one game and an evening training session with analysis of mistakes. If we leave for a training camp (summer season), then the approximate working day is exercises + 2 trainings (day and evening), watching records with competitions of other teams and developing tactics for a more productive game against the enemy. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? Conditions are comfortable if they suit your physical activity. I'm used to it and I'm not looking for other working conditions. Most of the day is mostly spent in the gym, during the training camp - on the street. 6. What do you like most about your job? I like to be in demand, feel the competitive spirit of excitement and the opportunity to improve both professionally (sports) and in communication with other people. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? Non-sedentary lifestyle and, especially, at the training camp - excessive physical overload. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? The salary is quite high. But it directly depends on your professional abilities (if you go to the game in the main team, then this is one salary, and if you are in a backup, then it’s completely different). Of course, when we go to games in other cities and countries, everything is paid for us: travel, accommodation, meals + “per diems” are issued and this is in addition to the salary. For winning tournaments, a bonus is also given (depending on the place taken and the significance of the competition). But in case of defeat, the salary may be reduced. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? The team is large - 20 people + coaching staff, but friendly. It all depends on your communication skills. In our business, bad people don't stay. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? Perseverance, optimism, faith in yourself and in a teammate, the desire for self-perfectionidentity. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). The work gave me the opportunity to travel, both throughout Russia and to other countries. Many friends and acquaintances have appeared, my horizons have expanded and there are no problems with physical form. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? Most likely 4.5. 13. Why did you choose this job? The choice was unconscious, because they start playing sports from childhood. And today it's not just a job, but an integral way of life, one might say - a habit, to always be in good shape and strive to win in everything. 14. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? I would add the following question: “Is this the only job in your life and if you had the opportunity to change it, would you use it? And what profession would you prefer? And from myself I want to add. When choosing a professional sport, you need to understand that almost your entire life will be spent in competitions and training. And although a high salary, the opportunity to do what you love and constant travel fill this work with a pleasant meaning, but the reverse side of the coin is also present: injuries are not ruled out, and there is time to create a personal (especially family) life only after the end of your career. Or there will be a choice between work and family. 0
