My profession is an electrician for maintenance of elevators. | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? All of us - some more often, some less - use elevators, we are accustomed to the convenience and ease of use. Indeed, it is much easier - you press a button and arrive at the desired floor. But few people know who stands guard over the safe operation of elevators, on whom the lives of thousands of people hang. My profession is called an elevator maintenance electrician. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? It is my duty to anticipate and prevent emergencies by keeping the elevator running. I inspect the components and mechanisms of the elevator in the shaft, in the machine room and on the elevator car. If the electrician does not faithfully fulfill his duties, does not test and, if necessary, change the safety devices in a timely manner, the moment will come when an accident will occur. And it’s good if the accident is associated with the failure of some mechanism, and not with injuries .... 3. What education is required to get your position? Get training and practice. Often this happens right at the enterprise that is engaged in servicing. That is, a person is hired for a trial period, after which they conduct a knowledge test and solemnly issue an appropriate document. 4. Describe your working day. There are maintenance services where the mechanic is responsible for 600 elevators, there are also those where there are only 10 of them on the mechanics. Personally, more than 50 elevators of different schemes and mechanics “hang” on me. And every day I visit 2-4 elevators a day, ride on top of the cabin, inspect the shaft door locks, traction ropes, mine electrical equipment, counterweight and a bunch of other little things. I'm testing the elevator by creating emergencies and triggering safety devices. According to the results of my inspection, the elevator can even be stopped to replace or repair a failed node. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? I must say - when. Sometimes you sit around in the office for half a day (just don’t tell anyone), and sometimes you work hard until late at night. For example, when replacing the elevator winch and ropes. Another work is often associated with hiking up the stairs to the very top of the engine room, which is also not very comfortable. Maybe it's at least useful? 6. What do you like most about your job? Not attached to the workplace. I walk the streets between houses and quarters, breathe the air, rejoice in the sun, and then I go into the entrance and penetrate where ordinary people cannot penetrate. There is something romantic about this. 7. What do you dislike most about your job? Vandals who spoil the equipment of the elevator, break the doors, pull out the buttons, paint the walls of the cabin. How much from them unpredictable harm. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? Once upon a time, the salary was quite satisfactory. Then prices rose, and salaries, one might say, remained at the same level. Therefore, today I am not satisfied with the salary, as, indeed, tthousands of other workers. I hope that in the very near future the issue of wages will be reviewed. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? A friendly backbone has formed in the team, a group of mechanical specialists, consisting of six people, aged from 25 to 50 years. And there are those who come and go, people who do not stay for a long time, probably nowhere. There is also an emergency service, consisting mainly of women, who deal with the release in case of passengers getting stuck in the elevator. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? First of all, it is responsibility and conscientiousness. The unscrupulous mechanic did not see through that the electrical contact on the doors suddenly stopped opening - and the elevator suddenly gained the ability to go with the doors open. I don't think it's worth mentioning how traumatic it is. The mechanic did not test the speed limiter, did not notice that it does not work when the speed is exceeded, and then suddenly stupidity - 10 young people squeezed into an elevator designed for 4 people maximum. The elevator began to slip with cables along the pulley, quickly picking up speed ... So, safety in the operation of the elevator depends only on the electrician. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). In addition to servicing, I am engaged in the installation of elevators, I go on business trips to different cities, communicate with interesting people, with associates from neighboring elevator organizations. As a result - the exchange of experience, equipment and workforce 12. Do you have the opportunity to rate your work on a five-point scale, what rating would you give? I am responsible for my work, I brilliantly fulfill my duties and honestly deserve the maximum appreciation for my ungrateful and inconspicuous work. Five points. 13. Why did you choose this job? As a child, I committed hooligan acts with elevators. No, I didn't fire buttons or break doors. It was interesting for me to get into the machine room, examine the control station, control the elevator from the push-button panel. Since childhood, I have been drawn to all sorts of mechanisms, so it was not I who chose the job, it was the job that chose me. 14. What are the opportunities for your career development? Work in my structure involves career growth for promising employees. Naturally, without striving, passively fulfilling duties, one can work in one position all his life. But if the employee has potential, if the employee easily copes with increased responsibility, you can improve your qualifications, increase your rank or pay for education at a higher educational institution and appoint an employee responsible for an entire technological area. In the future, such responsible people make excellent engineers. 15. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? Some people do not understand the meaning of my work, believing that a mechanic comes to the elevator or fix a breakdown, lbecause something to twist. They don't want to hear about inspection. Once a group of vigilant grandmothers took us prisoner and escorted us to the office in a tight ring. It's just that one of the grandmothers called our emergency service asking if the mechanics on the elevator were working, and they were mistakenly told that they were not working. 0
