I work as a Scandinavian | Choice of profession. how to choose the right profession

1. What is the name of your profession (position)? My profession is Scandinavian. I translate texts (mainly from Swedish, but sometimes from other Scandinavian languages) into Russian and Ukrainian. 2. What is your job and what are your responsibilities? My duties include the study of classical and modern Scandinavian literature, cultural trends. After a detailed study, I write articles on given topics and translate literature. One of the main requirements (in addition to a very exotic education, of course) is round-the-clock unlimited access to the World Wide Web. In fact, I am a cultural analyst and translator at the same time. It is very important in my work to know the historical background of this or that event, the features of its development and reflection in the news or the work that I translate. 3. What education is required to get your position? Higher philological degree in Scandinavian studies. 4. Describe your working day. My working day, in principle, may be irregular, but officially begins at 9.00 and ends at 18.00. I can afford to stay late at work or at home, take work home if I feel bad or I know that it will be better. The main thing is the work done and the fact that I am always aware of what is happening. 5. How comfortable are your working conditions (all day outside, or in the office with a cup of coffee)? Mostly I am in the office, sometimes I go to meetings with writers, journalists. As a rule, this happens in a cafe. And since we are partly creative people, we can afford to drink tea and coffee in any quantities in the process of work. 6. What do you like most about your job? What I like most about my work is that I, first of all, realize myself in my favorite profession (I dreamed about it). 7. What do you dislike most about your job? I don’t like it except sometimes routine, but it happens extremely rarely. 8. If it's not a secret, what is your salary level (is it enough to write whether you are satisfied or not)? The level of my salary is such that I can afford to go on vacation to my beloved Scandinavia. 9. Describe your team, what kind of people work with you? Our team is creative, but very close-knit. In addition, I can do everything I like at the same time, having unlimited access to the Internet. Our team is small - eight people together with the boss. We are incredibly friendly, we always help each other. For all the time of work, not a single more or less major conflict. 10. What human qualities do you think are most important in your business? First of all, responsibility and pedantry (because the work must be done on time), correctness, good manners and a sense of humor. 11. Work gives me additional opportunities (everything that work gives you except money, from self-expression and communication with interesting people to the opportunity to visit different countries). Work provides an opportunity for additional earnings, interesting communication, travel, relative financial freedoms, which is important for emotional satisfaction. 12. Do you have the opportunity to evaluate your work on a five-point scale, what grade would you give? A solid five. 13. Why did you choose this job? Since childhood, I have been in love with Scandinavia in general and Sweden in particular, and over the years this love has grown into a desire for professional embodiment. 14. What do you think we did not include in the plan and what else would you like to share with us? Probably about plans for the future in connection with the profession. My immediate plans are to learn languages without an accent and try my hand at sports commentary. 0
